Elsevier launches new digital platform for Expert Consult, Student Consult

STM publisher Elsevier has announced the launch of the fully redesigned Expert Consult and Student Consult, its two medical reference and learning platforms, now powered by Inkling, the creator of engaging, intuitive digital books for some of the world's most respected publishers. Expert Consult and Student Consult now feature Inkling's standard-setting reading and search experience.

Open access material science journal changes copyright license

IOP Publishing (IOP), a wholly owned subsidiary of the Institute of Physics, and the National Institute for Materials Science (NIMS, Japan) have announced that Science and Technology of Advanced Materials (STAM) has adopted the Creative Commons license (CC-BY 3.0) for all articles published in the journal. This license gives users the right to reuse, repurpose and build upon a piece of work, even commercially, as long as they credit the original creation.

Genealogists can now find FamilySearch and WorldCat records through both online resources

OCLC, the non-profit computer library service and research organisation, and FamilySearch International are working together to share data between WorldCat and the FamilySearch Catalog to provide more resources for improved genealogy research. More than 1 million FamilySearch genealogical records are now discoverable in WorldCat, the world's largest database of records representing resources in libraries worldwide. Links to WorldCat are now available on FamilySearch.org.

Dr Simon Kennon named Editor-in-Chief of Interventional Cardiology Review

Interventional Cardiology Review (ICR) has announced the appointment of Dr Simon Kennon to the position of Editor-in-Chief. Dr Kennon is an interventional cardiologist and Head of Structural Heart Disease and the Transcatheter Aortic Valve Implantation Programme at the London Chest Hospital, Barts Health NHS Trust, London. His research interests relate to aortic valve and coronary interventions.

CLIC becomes first academic library consortium to subscribe to ProQuest's cloud-based library services platform

Information resources and technologies provider ProQuest has announced that Cooperating Libraries in Consortium (CLIC) of St. Paul, Minnesota, is the first academic library consortium to subscribe to ProQuest's cloud-based library services platform, IntotaTM. The CLIC libraries will be taking full advantage of the transformative nature of the Intota library services platform, implementing in phases beginning with the Summon discovery service this spring.

APA to publish the first issue of Psychology of Sexual Orientation and Gender Diversity journal in March 2014

The American Psychological Association (APA) will publish the first issue of the new journal Psychology of Sexual Orientation and Gender Diversity in March 2014. This quarterly journal will include empirical research, theoretical and conceptual articles, in-depth reviews of research and literature, clinical case studies, book reviews, and letters to the editor.
