Knovel expands Crude Oil Assay Database and boosts Chemical Data Records

Two of Knovel's Critical Content Databases have received significant updates. Yaws' Critical Property Database for Chemical Engineers and Chemists has increased by 160,000 data records to include almost 450,000 records in total. With this update, Knovel offers the largest compilation of correlations for chemical engineers online. In addition, the Crude Oil Assay Database has expanded to feature over 400 assays.

The ER&L/EBSCO Library Research Fellowship supports library professionals interested in informing librarians worldwide

Library resources provider EBSCO Information Services (EBSCO) and Electronic Resources & Libraries (ER&L) will once again join together to offer a fellowship to support valuable research on trending topics of interest in the information industry. The ER&L/EBSCO Library Research Fellowship will provide up to $4,000 to fund researchers interested in conducting research on issues related to management of electronic resources in the ever-evolving information industry.

BookNet Canada releases benchmark study on Canadian Digital Publishing

BookNet Canada has released a report according to which Canadian publishers' digital publishing programs are well underway. The State of Digital Publishing in Canada 2013 lays out the results of a survey conducted by BookNet Canada in fall 2013. Eighty-four respondents, representing small, mid-sized, and large publishers and distributors, reported on various aspects of their digital publishing programs, including staffing, ebook production & conversion, digital originals, enhanced ebooks & apps, ebook bundling, and ebook sales & distribution.

OCLC Research Library Partnership announces three new partners

OCLC Research Library Partnership has announced three new partners – two from Australia and one from the US. The universities are: Australian National University, Monash University and Montana State University. The OCLC Research Library Partnership currently comprises 167 Partner institutions.

Reed Business Information acquires Innovata LLC

Reed Business Information (RBI), a division of Reed Elsevier, has acquired the entire issued share capital of Innovata LLC, a provider of airline schedules data, maps and tools for the global air travel market. Innovata will join RBI's aerospace information and data services business, Flightglobal.

Utah selects McGraw-Hill Education's adaptive math program ALEKS as grant-eligible mathematics option for middle and high schools statewide

As part of ongoing efforts to improve student performance in the STEM subjects, Utah has designated McGraw-Hill Education's adaptive math program ALEKS® as a grant-eligible mathematics option for middle and high schools statewide. The selection, made by Utah's STEM Action Center following the completion of a semester-long pilot of ALEKS in Utah schools in fall 2013, makes Utah the first state in which the digitally adaptive, Common Core-aligned solution will be available statewide.
