Wolters Kluwer Health and APSNA in deal to publish the Journal of Pediatric Surgical Nursing

Information and point-of-care solutions provider Wolters Kluwer Health and the American Pediatric Surgical Nurses Association (APSNA) have announced an agreement to publish the Journal of Pediatric Surgical Nursing. The journal is the official publication of the APSNA. The first issue of the quarterly online journal was recently posted at www.journalofpediatricsurgicalnursing.com.

International Book Industry excellence Awards 2014 shortlists announced

The London Book Fair International Book Industry Excellence Awards have been announced with US and Indian publishing industries leading the shortlists with four nominations apiece, with China and Korea not far behind with three each. Shortlists for this year's inaugural Awards, which are held in association with The UK Publishers Association (The PA), showcase the best international companies and individuals from across the publishing industry that will compete for 16 prestigious awards.

De Gruyter Open expands medicine journals portfolio

Open Access Publisher De Gruyter Open has announced a partnership with the Serbian University of Kragujevac to publish the Serbian Journal of Experimental and Clinical Research as well as with the Medical University of Lublin, Poland, to provide professional publishing services from March 2014 for Current Issues in Pharmacy and Medical Sciences and the Polish Journal of Public Health. All three journals will be published in the open access model. Their entire contents will be available free of charge to all users.

University of Western Australia selects Ex Libris Alma to streamline and modernise library services

Library automation solutions provider Ex Libris Group has announced that the University of Western Australia (UWA), a member of the Group of Eight (Go8) coalition of Australian universities, has selected the Ex Libris Alma library management solution to replace a number of disparate systems, including Innovative Interfaces Millennium. Alma's fully cloud-based design was also a major factor in UWA's choice of Alma.

University of Waikato becomes first university in New Zealand to approve OA mandate guidelines

The University of Waikato has become the first university in New Zealand to approve a mandate around open access to academics' publications. The Open Access Mandate Guidelines were approved this month by the University of Waikato's Academic Board. Under the guidelines, academic staff can disseminate their research as widely as possible, bringing research results out from behind the subscription paywall to be accessed by all.
