Springer partners with Università degli Studi di Palermo to publish new English-language book series

STM publisher Springer has entered a partnership with Università degli Studi di Palermo to publish a new English-language book series. UNIPA Springer Series will offer peer-reviewed scientific research in a broad range of publications including monographs, edited volumes, handbooks, advanced textbooks, conference proceedings, professional books and SpringerBriefs. All publications in the series will be available as eBooks on the online platform SpringerLink.

ProQuest seeks applicants for 2014 Roger K. Summit Scholarship

Information resources and technologies provider ProQuest is seeking applicants for its 2014 Roger K. Summit Scholarship. Open to applicants from around the world, the US$5,000 award has been given annually for more than twenty years, supporting promising graduate students in library and information sciences. The winner will be announced at the Special Libraries Association's 2014 Annual Conference to be held June 8 – 10 in Vancouver, British Columbia.

McGraw-Hill Education introduces Connect Insight data analytics and visualisation tool for higher education at SXSWedu

Digital learning company McGraw-Hill Education has introduced Connect InsightTM, a first-of-its-kind data analytics and visualisation tool for higher education. The launch leads McGraw-Hill Education's presence at the Austin-based education festival, SXSWedu, where the company will also host an on-site lounge experience, debut a new interactive game for college Spanish, and announce a major partnership in the K-12 market.

Jisc Digital Festival 2014 online programme announced

Jisc has announced details of how to follow its Jisc Digital Festival 2014 online. The Jisc Digital Festival will be held in the ICC in Birmingham on March 11-12, 2014. Online participants will be able to follow the event online thanks to Sonic Foundry's Mediasite software which will stream the keynote speakers and expert presentations from the festival's 'Hangout' area.

Research Square, a US-based for-benefit organisation which provides tools and services to hasten the pace of scientific discovery, for the global academic community, has announced that launch of JournalGuide, a free tool to help researchers publish faster by choosing the best match for their manuscript from the beginning. Julie Presas named OCLC General Counsel and VP of Legal Services

OCLC, the non-profit computer library service and research organisation, has announced that Julie Presas has been promoted to General Counsel and Vice President of Legal Services. She succeeds Jim Houfek, who retired effective March 1 as OCLC Vice President and General Counsel after 21 years of service to the cooperative.
