Nursing2014 journal endorsed by the Healthcare Information and Management Systems Society

Information and point-of-care solutions provider Wolters Kluwer Health has announced that Nursing2014, a peer-reviewed journal of clinical excellence, has been endorsed by the Healthcare Information and Management Systems Society (HIMSS), a global, cause-based, not-for-profit organisation focused on better health through information technology (IT). Nursing2014 is part of Wolters Kluwer Health's Lippincott Williams & Wilkins journal portfolio that also includes Nursing Management, endorsed by HIMSS since 2003.

SAGE opposes FIRST Act cuts to social, behavioral, and economic science funding and political interference in the NSF grant-application process

Social and behavioural sciences publisher SAGE has joined with science associations and American universities in opposing the FIRST Act. This act proposes to cut the funding level for the National Science Foundation's Directorate of Social, Behavioral and Economic Sciences by almost 42 percent and imposes unnecessary and burdensome rules on the proven grant-application procedures and gold-standard merit-review processes overseen by the scholars at the NSF.

Cambridge University Press adopts three new initiatives to improve the visibility and accessibility of digital content

Academic publisher Cambridge University Press has announced the adoption of three new initiatives, each designed to improve the visibility and accessibility of digital content. Cambridge University Press is one of the first 15 publishers to participate in Kudos' beta phase. Cambridge Books Online is now also accessible via Paratext's Reference Universe. Additionally, as a member of the Dryad scheme, Cambridge can offer its authors the option to store their data in this reliable repository, making it visible to the entire academic community.

The joint editors of European Urology's Nocturia Resource Centre, a freely accessible educational platform designed for healthcare professionals specialised in urology, have announced the appointment of sleep medicine expert, Professor Donald L. North American Working Group to revise Model License

Libraries today must be strongly proactive in shaping the licenses that govern their campuses' electronic information resources. A multi-organisational effort is now underway to strengthen libraries' negotiating position in the e-resources marketplace. With support from The Andrew W. Mellon Foundation, a vigorous overhaul of the Model License is in progress under the auspices of the Center for Research Libraries.
