CAS and Kalexsyn announce three-year agreement to offer unlimited SciFinder access to researchers

Chemical Abstracts Service (CAS), the world's authority for chemical information, has announced a three-year agreement for SciFinder, the choice for chemistry research, with Kalexsyn, a Contract Research Organization (CRO) uniquely positioned to address the needs of the pharmaceutical and biotechnology communities. Through this partnership, Kalexsyn will provide unlimited searching in SciFinder for every chemist on its staff.

Springer and the American Thoracic Society join forces on the book series Respiratory Medicine

STM publisher Springer and the American Thoracic Society (ATS) have entered into a partnership to collaborate on the book series Respiratory Medicine. Springer will hold editorial responsibility, but will work with the ATS to develop new topics for books. The series editor is Dr. Sharon Rounds, Professor of Medicine and of Pathology and Laboratory Medicine at the Alpert Medical School at Brown University in the US.

ARL appoints Krista Cox as director of public policy initiatives

The Association of Research Libraries (ARL) has named Krista L. Cox director of public policy initiatives, effective January 6, 2014. The director of public policy initiatives advocates for the policy priorities of ARL and executes strategies to implement these priorities. Cox is currently the staff attorney/legal counsel at Knowledge Ecology International, a non-profit organisation that searches for better outcomes, including new solutions, to the management of knowledge resources.

Brill and Semantico launch BrillOnline Discovery

Academic publisher Brill and UK-based online publishing services provider Semantico have announced the launch of BrillOnline Discovery, which offers users the option to search across all of Brill's online resources from one central place. BrillOnline Discovery uses the Scolaris Linking Hub technology developed by Semantico. This enables federated search increased discoverability across the family of Brill platforms.

SwetsWise becomes COUNTER 4 compliant

Information services provider Swets has announced that customers using its SwetsWise Online Content and Selection Support modules are now able to retrieve COUNTER 4 compliant usage reports from both platforms.
