Elsevier to flip 7 subscription journals to Open Access in 2014

STM publisher Elsevier has announced that it will flip seven established subscription journals to a gold open access model starting January 1, 2014. Journals that are changed from subscription-based to open access will retain the same editorial standards and instead of through subscriptions, the publication costs of the journals will be covered through an article processing fees paid by the authors.

Thomson Reuters announces winner of the inaugural ScholarOne Journal Triathlon

The Intellectual Property & Science business of Thomson Reuters has announced the winner of the inaugural ScholarOne® Journal Triathlon, an online contest designed to celebrate and recognise the innovative practices of scholarly research journals. Thrombosis and Haemostasis was named Journal Triathlon Champion from among 27 total submissions. South Asian Journal of Management Sciences was awarded second place and Al-Shajarah third in recognition of their approaches toward advancing the publishing process.

EBSCO and Cosmotron partner to boost library discovery in Czech and Slovak Republic

Library resources provider EBSCO Information Services (EBSCO) has announced a new partnership with Cosmotron, an ILS vendor serving the Czech and Slovak Republic, to provide expanded services to mutual customers. A joint development will enable libraries to deliver valuable content from EBSCO Discovery ServiceTM (EDS) to customers using the systems that are familiar to them.

McGraw-Hill Professional has announced a subscription agreement with The University of North Carolina (UNC) at Chapel Hill Medical School for AccessMedicine, McGraw-Hill Professional's premier online learning product.
