Elsevier successfully deploys unified clinical medication decision support solution in China

STM publisher Elsevier has announced that it has successfully deployed the unified clinical medication decision support solution, known as Clinical Medication Decision Support All (CMDS- All), at The First Affiliated Hospital of Soochow University in Suzhou, Jiangsu province, China. Developed by Shanghai Datong Medical Information Technology Co. Ltd. (Datong), a fully-owned Elsevier entity, CMDS-All integrates previously disparate medical and pharmacological applications into a single solution platform with additional functionalities of prescription and analytics solutions.

Thomson Reuters and Tohoku University Tohoku Medical Megabank collaborate to restructure Tohoku and further its scientific research efforts

The Intellectual Property & Science business of Thomson Reuters has announced a collaboration with Tohoku University Tohoku Medical Megabank Organization (ToMMo) to help restore Tohoku's medical system to its pre-earthquake state and help its medical community further develop its research efforts. Thomson Reuters is providing the organisation with a suite of solutions including its CortellisTM for Informatics Gene Variant Database to support the organisation's unique, large-scale genetic research study to further personalised medicine.

The London Book Fair to launch London Book and Screen Week 2014, announces move to Olympia in 2015

Events organiser Reed Exhibitions has announced that The London Book Fair 2014 will be the last to take place in its current location, Earls Court. From 2015, The London Book Fair will move from Earls Court to an equally iconic new home at sister ECO venue, Olympia. This decision was taken following extensive consultation with The London Book Fair Advisory bodies, representing the industry at home and overseas.

Hebrew University of Jerusalem selects EBSCO Discovery Service to provide enhanced discovery experience

Library resources provider EBSCO Information Services (EBSCO) has announced that Hebrew University of Jerusalem has selected EBSCO Discovery ServiceTM (EDS) to provide an enhanced discovery experience for students. The customisable resource from EBSCO will be known as HU Find. HU Find will search across multiple databases and the library's catalogue to create a customised discovery solution.

Fifty percent grant now available for Knowledge Unlatched pilot fee

Jisc has announced that the Higher Education Funding Council for England (HEFCE) has agreed to make a grant of up to £550 to universities in England that participate in the Knowledge Unlatched pilot, from December 11. Knowledge Unlatched is an organisation dedicated to promoting open access for scholarly books. This grant contribution will be used to reduce the participation fee paid by English libraries by 50 percent.

Peer-reviewed articles from F1000Research now visible on PubMed and PubMed Central

Open Access life-sciences journal F1000Research has announced that articles published and peer-reviewed via its novel post-publication peer review model are now visible in PubMed, the largest and most-used biomedical literature database, and PubMed Central (PMC). Since its launch at the start of this year, F1000Research has published over 300 articles, and continues to challenge the traditional scholarly publishing model through its innovative, open and transparent Open Science publishing model.

OSA journal Advances in Optics and Photonics to be indexed in Thomson Reuters' Web of Science

The Optical Society (OSA) has announced that its journal Advances in Optics and Photonics has been approved for indexing in Thomson Reuters' Web of ScienceTM, the Scientific, Technical and Medical publishing industry's leading citation database. Advances in Optics and Photonics articles are scheduled to start appearing in Web of Science beginning early next year, with its first Impact Factor expected in June 2014.

IHS and Synapse announce strategic partnership to add Chemistry and Chemical Engineering publications to Knowledge Collections

IHS Inc., a global source of critical information and insight, and Synapse Information Resources, publisher of a chemicals database and related eBooks and publications, have announced a new agreement. The deal allows IHS to globally sell Synapse's chemicals database and related chemical publications and feature key titles like Industrial Chemicals Thesaurus and Specialty Chemicals Source Book within the IHS Knowledge Collections.
