Scope collaborates with Taylor & Francis to create MARC records

Scope e-Knowledge Center (Scope), a leading provider of content enhancement and knowledge services, recently completed an assignment with Taylor & Francis (T&F) to create MARC records for XML archives across 15 categories of publication types, including journals, books, reports and acts based on RDA guidelines for their cutting-edge digital resource, the South Asia Archive. Scope employed its mARCatTM platform to efficiently execute the assignment and meet the expectations of T&F.

Frankfurt Book Fair begins

The annual Frankfurt Book Fair kicked off October 9, 2013. About 7,300 exhibitors from 100 countries are attending the Frankfurt Book Fair this year. Calling on publishers to use "Tarzan" Economics to swing to the new vine, Jim Griffen of Onehouse LLC delivered the keynote speech at the International STM annual conference at the Westin Grand Hotel in Frankfurt on October 8.

Scopus indexes first 7,500 book titles as part of its Book Titles Expansion program

STM publisher Elsevier has announced that Scopus has indexed the first 7,500 book titles as part of its Book Titles Expansion program. By 2015, an estimated 75,000 book titles will be indexed. The inclusion of book titles adds to the more than 50 million records indexed by Scopus which are derived from 20,000 journals, 5.5 million conference proceedings and 390 trade publications.

John Wiley & Sons announces results of its 2013 author survey on open access

Publisher John Wiley & Sons, Inc. has announced the results of its 2013 author survey on open access, with over eight thousand respondents from across Wiley's journal portfolio. The survey is a follow up to Wiley's 2012 open access author survey and is the second such survey conducted by Wiley. This year new sections were added including research funding and article licenses.

EBSCO Information receives Learning In Practice Award from Chief Learning Officer magazine

Library resources provider EBSCO Information Services (EBSCO) has announced that it has received the prestigious Learning In Practice Award from Chief Learning Officer magazine. The company was awarded the Bronze Excellence in Content Award for its accomplishments in creating superior learning content. This is the second year in a row that EBSCO has received this recognition.

HighWire launches Folio eBooks product at Frankfurt Book Fair

HighWire Press, a not-for-profit division of Stanford University Libraries, has announced the launch of Folio, its new eBooks product, showcasing the library release of the e-Duke Books Scholarly Collection at the Frankfurt Book Fair.
