Elsevier expands DirectCourse for Mental Health Practitioners

STM publisher Elsevier has announced the launch of a new curriculum, The College of Recovery and Community Inclusion. In conjunction with the Temple University Collaborative on Community Inclusion of Individuals with Psychiatric Disabilities, Elsevier has made this new curriculum available via DirectCourse, a suite of online curricula designed to help the workforce who support the social and employment needs of people with intellectual, developmental and physical disabilities.

Fluids and Barriers of the CNS names two new Editors-in-Chief

Fluids and Barriers of the CNS, an open access, peer-reviewed, online journal published by BioMed Central, has announced the appointment of Prof Lester Drewes (University of Minnesota) and Prof Richard Keep (University of Michigan) as co-Editors-in-Chief of Fluids and Barriers of the CNS, working alongside Hazel Jones (King's College London, UK). Prof. Tetsuya Terasaki (Tohoku University) has stepped down as co-Editor-in-Chief of the journal.

NISO publishes Data Curation themed issue of Information Standards quarterly in Open Access

The National Information Standards Organization (NISO) announces the publication of the Fall 2013 issue of Information Standards Quarterly (ISQ) with a special theme of Data Curation. Interest in the topic of data curation has increased greatly as many governments and funding organisations have mandated that publicly funded research must be made more openly available–including not only the results published in journal articles, but also the underlying data.

Florida State University announces two campus-wide initiatives during Open Access Week

As Florida State University observes Open Access Week Oct. 21-27, Florida State University Libraries is advancing two campus-wide initiatives to support a growing international effort to promote free and immediate online access to scholarly research, and the right to use and re-use research results as needed. This is the fourth year that Florida State has celebrated Open Access Week.

ARL publishes Print Retention Decision Making, SPEC Kit 337

The Association of Research Libraries (ARL) has published Print Retention Decision Making, SPEC Kit 337, which examines research libraries' print retention decision making strategies related to storage of materials in three different types of facilities or circumstances. The survey also examined the decision making and practices surrounding the deaccessioning of library material.
