Elsevier and Russian Ministry of Education sign agreement to include Scopus Custom Data in the development of national research assessment tool

STM publisher Elsevier has announced that the Russian Ministry of Education and Science has signed an agreement to include Scopus Custom Data in a nation-wide research assessment tool - Russia's Map of Science. The project for Russia's Map of Science was launched last year as part of governmental initiatives to reform and invest in the country's science and education system.

RSC welcomes intention to appoint Chief Scientific Adviser in Northern Ireland

Ahead of a meeting of scientists and politicians at Stormont, the chief executive of the Royal Society of Chemistry, Dr Robert Parker, has announced that the position of Chief Scientific Adviser in Northern Ireland will be created as outlined in the draft Northern Ireland Innovation Strategy. Together with the Northern Ireland Assembly All Party Group on Science and Technology, the Royal Society of Chemistry has been leading the charge in demonstrating the necessity for this appointment in Northern Ireland.

Ingram Content Group Inc. has announced that DeSales University and Salus University have selected Ingram's VitalSource Bookshelf e-learning platform to enhance the interactive learning tools, curriculum and content for students in their physician assistant programs. Collaborating with DeSales University and Salus University, Vital Source created custom e-textbook programmes for the physician assistant curriculums offered by each institution.

ARL, Coalition express support for Surveillance Transparency Legislation

The Association of Research Libraries (ARL), together with 71 other privacy and civil liberties groups, sent a letter to the US Senate and House Judiciary Committees calling on Congress to provide greater transparency around national security – related requests by the US government to Internet, telephone, and web-based service providers for information about users and subscribers. The coalition strongly supports the Surveillance Transparency Act of 2013 (S. 1452) and the Surveillance Order Reporting Act of 2013 (H.R. 3035)
