Elsevier expands Legacy Collection on ScienceDirect

STM publisher Elsevier has announced the expansion of its Legacy Collection on ScienceDirect. Elsevier's Legacy Collection now includes more than 9500 books with contributions from more than 100 Nobel Laureates. The expanded content now covers 15 subject areas.

Information and point-of-care solutions provider Wolters Kluwer Health has introduced Lippincott's NCLEX-RN PassPoint, powered by PrepUTM. This adaptive learning and exam prep tool for nursing students simulates the National Council Licensure Examination for Registered Nurses (NCLEX-RN®) with comprehensive, adaptive practice exams, and includes access to thousands of pages of evidence-based, clinically oriented content.

BMJ journal editors to no longer consider research funded by tobacco industry

Editors of The BMJ, Heart, Thorax, and BMJ Open have said that they will no longer consider for publication any study that is partly or wholly funded by the tobacco industry. Writing on bmj.com, the editors said that the new policy is consistent with those of many other journals and demonstrates their commitment to ensuring that - as far as possible - their journals publish honest work that advances knowledge about health and disease.

Endocrine Surgeon Dr. Gerard Doherty appointed Editor of video journal, VideoEndocrinology

Mary Ann Liebert, Inc., publishers and the American Thyroid Association have announced that Dr. Gerard M. Doherty, the James Utley Professor of Surgery and Chair, Department of Surgery at Boston University School of Medicine and Surgeon-in-Chief at Boston Medical Center, has been named Editor of VideoEndocrinology. VideoEndocrinology is a new educational resource for endocrine surgeons, otolaryngologists, endocrinologists, radiologists, and other specialists.

Maney Publishing in deal with Maruzen to offer its E-journal collections to customers in Japan

Academic publisher Maney Publishing has entered into an agreement with Maruzen to act as a non-exclusive sales agent for its MORE (Maney Online Research E-journal) Collections throughout Japan. By entering into this partnership with Maruzen, it will allow Maney to disseminate its electronic journal collections to a much wider audience throughout Japan.

(CCC) has announced enhancements to its Republication Service, streamlining the process to buy and sell permission to republish content from the world's most sought-after journals, books, newspapers and other information sources. Digital learning company McGraw-Hill Education has launched ALEKS Placement, Preparation and Learning, the first adaptive, open-response placement and remediation tool for higher education. ALEKS Placement is the first product the company has officially launched since McGraw-Hill Education acquired ALEKS Corporation in June 2013.
