ScienceDirect offers ability to view 3D datasets next to the published online articles

STM publisher Elsevier and Kitware, a worldwide leader in developing advanced visualization technologies, has announced that Elsevier journals offer the opportunity to upload 3D datasets when submitting a paper for publication. This way, once published, readers can interactively explore 3D datasets next to the online article on ScienceDirect.

Springer expands publishing portfolio in Korea

STM publisher Springer has signed new agreements with the Korea Nano Technology Research Society (KoNTRS) for a new open access journal and KAIST Press for a new book series. With this move, the publisher seeks to expand its activities in South Korea. Starting in January 2014, Springer and the Korea Nano Technology Research Society will partner to publish the new open access journal Nano Convergence.

ACM joins call for 'Hour Of Code' to underscore critical role of computing in all careers

The Association for Computing Machinery (ACM) has joined leaders of the computing community to invite schools, teachers, and parents to experience computer programming through the Code.org campaign known as Hour of Code. Scheduled to occur during Computer Science Education Week, December 9-15, this nationwide campaign hopes to introduce more than 10 million students of all ages to the basics of coding, a foundational skill for careers in the 21st century.

Chicago Public Library selects Ingram's comprehensive library service solutions to support large-scale PDA pilot for print books

Ingram Content Group Inc., has announced that the Chicago Public Library has selected its comprehensive library service solutions to support a large-scale Patron Driven Acquisition (PDA) pilot for print books. The Chicago Public Library received a $300,000 grant from the Illinois State Library to conduct the PDA pilot over two years. The library selected Ingram to manage the innovative program.
