More Search for more news in this Category Search for more news in this Theme Authors Guild case against Google and its Library Project dismissed On November 14, Judge Denny Chin of the Court of Appeals for the Second Circuit ruled that the digitisation of millions of books from research library collections was a fair use and dismissed the Authors Guild case against Google and its Library Project. In his decision, Judge Chin cited a November 2012 amicus brief submitted by the Library Copyright Alliance. The Authors Guild has stated that they disagree with the decision and plan to appeal. The journal is a new peer-reviewed, open access journal dedicated to publishing case reports in all areas of adult and pediatric urology. The first case report published in the journal is now available to read online on ScienceDirect. Metadata from the HBO Knowledge Base will be indexed allowing researchers to discover articles, research reports and theses produced by lecturers, teachers and students within the universities alongside their library's other resources to gather the most relevant information for their projects. Biologist Michela Matteoli (University of Milan) received the mid-career award and Euro10,000 prize. Chemist Vincenzo Balzani (University of Bologna) and Physicist Giorgio Parisi (University of Rome I, La Sapienza) were jointly presented with the lifetime achievement award and Euro5,000 each. The award, which is managed by the Library Leadership and Management Association (LLAMA) division of ALA, honours outstanding library public relations. Eight $10,000 awards are granted each year by the H.W. Wilson Foundation and the annual Awards Ceremony is sponsored by the ALA and EBSCO Information Services.
