Elsevier announces new OA journal, Photoacoustics

STM publisher, Elsevier, has announced the launch of a new open access journal, Photoacoustics. The aim of Photoacoustics is to publish original research and review contributions within the fast growing scientific field of photoacoustics (optoacoustics) and thermoacoustics.

The Wellcome Trust and Palgrave Macmillan publish first open access monograph

Palgrave Macmillan has announced that they have published their first open access monograph, the first comprehensive history of fungal infections, funded by The Wellcome Trust. Fungal Disease in Britain and the US 1850-2000, by Dr Aya Homei and Professor Michael Worboys, will be available as a free ebook to download from Palgrave Connect and online retailers such as Amazon Kindle.

Wiley to provide emergency access to medical literature in support of Typhoon Haiyan relief efforts

Publisher John Wiley & Sons, Inc., US, will offer free access to medical literature in support of Typhoon Haiyan relief efforts to those affected by the disaster and those providing assistance to the affected population as part of the Emergency Access Initiative. The free access period is currently November 11, 2013 - December 9, 2013.

Indiana University Press selects Ingram for US and Canadian book distribution

Ingram Content Group Inc. has announced that Indiana University Press has selected Ingram Publisher Services for US and Canadian book distribution. Ingram Publisher Services is currently handling distribution for the press in the US and Canada with integrated e-book distribution through Ingram's CoreSource platform, and print-on-demand book manufacturing and fulfillment though Ingram's Lightning Source solution.
