IHS content indexed in the Summon discovery service to include IHS Jane's modules and databases

Serials Solutions, a ProQuest business, is working with IHS Inc. to expand IHS content indexed in the Summon discovery service to include IHS Jane's modules and databases. With the inclusion of metadata and full text from the IHS Jane's content sets in the Summon index, researchers will now be able to discover information in the defence, security, aerospace and transport sectors alongside their library's other resources.

Elsevier and Algerian Ministry of Higher Education and Research announce winners of 2013 Algerian Scopus Award

STM publisher Elsevier and the Algerian Ministry of Higher Education recently announced the winners of the 2013 Algerian Scopus Awards. The Algerian Scopus Awards program was first launched in 2010 and came to fruition through a joint initiative between Elsevier and the Algerian Ministry of Higher Education and Research with the aim to foster and encourage Algerian research talent. The selected 12 winners work covers a range of academic disciplines, recognising Algeria's top researchers.

Wolters Kluwer Health convenes expert panel to explore impact of evidence-based medicine on Canada's healthcare system

Wolters Kluwer Health brought together a panel of distinguished physician administrators from Canada's leading healthcare institutions for a series of regional seminars that explored the impact of evidence-based medicine on the country's healthcare system. Entitled 'Advancing the Practice of Evidence-Based Medicine - The Role of Clinical Decision Support in Improving Patient Outcomes,' the invitation-only seminar series took place in Montreal, Toronto and Halifax November 11-14, 2013.

WorldCat Metadata API powers new enhancements in latest MarcEdit release

MarcEdit, the popular free library metadata software suite, includes new functionality that will give OCLC member libraries the ability to contribute and enhance their bibliographic and holdings data within WorldCat while using MarcEdit. The new functionality will provide catalogers with a new way to interact with their OCLC data, as well as provide another option for libraries looking to streamline their metadata workflows.

UA Libraries join HathiTrust

The University of Alabama has become one of the latest partners of Hathitrust, a partnership of major academic and research libraries collaborating in a digital library initiative to preserve and provide access to the published record in digital form. Launched in 2008, HathiTrust has a growing membership currently comprising more than 60 partners.
