Jisc and Ex Libris announce collaboration to support UK academic libraries

Library automation solutions provider Ex Libris Group has entered into a collaborative agreement with Jisc to help academic libraries manage their e-resources. The collaboration will improve library efficiency by continually updating data from Jisc's Knowledge Base+ (KB+) to the KnowledgeBase of the Ex Libris SFX OpenURL link resolver and Alma library management solution.

Journal of Astronomical Telescopes, Instruments, and Systems set to launch in mid-2014

SPIE, the international society for optics and photonics, has announced the mid-2014 launch of the Journal of Astronomical Telescopes, Instruments, and Systems (JATIS). The journal will cover fundamental research and applications focused on the full range of astronomical instrumentation. Dr Mark Clampin has been named editor-in-chief of the journal.

HathiTrust releases new bibliographic metadata management system – Zephir

HathiTrust has announced the release of a new, state-of-the-art bibliographic management system for its 11-million volume digital repository. The new system, called Zephir, is developed and managed by the California Digital Library, and represents the first distributed development of a major repository component outside the University of Michigan.

The Association of Research Libraries (ARL) invites libraries to join the global assessment community of LibQUAL+ by registering for the 2014 LibQUAL+ survey, which will feature several enhancements. When the LibQUAL+ survey year opens in January, the team will introduce a mobile version of the survey.
