CAS and the Czech Consortium partner to provide SciFinder to faculty, staff and students at universities in the Czech Republic

Chemical Abstracts Service (CAS), the world's authority for chemical information, and the Czech Consortium, a regional consortium of schools outside Prague, jointly announced their collaboration to provide SciFinder to member universities. SciFinder is the preferred source of chemical information for scientists around the globe. With unlimited access, SciFinder is available to researchers in chemistry departments, as well as those in other science departments throughout a university.

Elsevier launches Adaptive Quizzing solution to help nursing students better prepare for course exams and NCLEXExam

STM publisher Elsevier has announced the launch of Elsevier Adaptive Quizzing (EAQ), in collaboration with Learning Objects, Inc.'s Difference Engine. EAQ directly addresses the market need for a personalised quizzing tool that enables nursing students of all academic aptitude levels to better focus their study time and effectively prepare for course tests and the NCLEX Exam.

ARL urges FCC to support e-reader accessibility

The Association of Research Libraries (ARL) submitted reply comments to the Federal Communications Commission (FCC) opposing a petition filed by the Coalition of E-Reader Manufacturers on September 13, 2013. The manufacturers are requesting a waiver from the FCC that would exempt e-readers from the requirement that equipment used for advanced communication services (ACS) be accessible to, and usable by, individuals with disabilities.

Journal of Nursing Education announces winner of annual Christine A. Tanner Scholarly Writing Award

The Journal of Nursing Education has announced the winner of this year's annual Christine A. Tanner Scholarly Writing Award. The 2013 winners are Dr. Cynthia M. Clark; Lynda Olender; Diane Kenski; and Cari Cardoni for 'Exploring and Addressing Faculty-to-Faculty Incivility: A National Perspective and Literature Review,' which was published in the April 2013 issue of the journal.

Paris-based content aggregator Numérique Premium (a subsidiary of Nouveau Monde editions) has teamed up with Publishing Technology to launch a new, custom-built site for all its ebook content. Now live on Publishing Technology's pub2web platform, the Numérique Premium hub is the new home of all of the ebook specialist's available content - over 1, 500 titles within 14 collections from 30 publishers by the end of 2013.
