Manuel Guzman named new President of American Chemical Society's CAS division

The American Chemical Society has appointed Manuel (Manny) Guzman to be the next president of CAS, the world's authority for chemical information. Guzman will begin his appointment on September 30. He succeeds Robert J. Massie, who has led CAS for more than 21 years and who is retiring at the end of March 2014.

Elsevier publishes seven new volumes of New and Future Developments in Catalysis

STM publisher Elsevier has announced publishing seven new volumes of New and Future Developments in Catalysis edited by Steven Suib. Oxford University Press set to publish Publications of the Astronomical Society of Japan

Academic publisher Oxford University Press (OUP) and the Astronomical Society of Japan have announced a new publishing partnership for the journal Publications of the Astronomical Society of Japan (PASJ). OUP will assume publication of PASJ from January 2014.

UC Berkeley and the University of Cambridge enter institutional arrangements for PeerJ memberships

PeerJ is pleased to announce that two research institutions UC Berkeley and the University of Cambridge have entered into new institutional arrangements to provide PeerJ memberships to their faculty. By doing so, any faculty member from these institutions who chooses to publish in PeerJ will have their membership fee automatically paid for them, out of the library's funds.
