STM publisher Elsevier has announced the availability of Elsevier Reference Modules on ScienceDirect, which allow researchers to access updated reference content as science progresses. Reference Modules combine thousands of related reference work articles into one source of trustworthy information that is continuously updated by experts.

The UK House of Commons Business, Innovation and Skills Committee Report on OA

The Business, Innovation and Skills Committee has published a Report welcoming the UK Government's commitment to increasing access to published research findings, and its desire to achieve full open access. However, while Gold open access is a desirable ultimate goal, focusing on it during the transition to a fully open access world is a mistake, says the Report.

Advanced Materials Editor Peter Gregory awarded two Chinese professorships

Publisher John Wiley and Sons, Inc., has announced that Professor Peter Gregory, Editor-in-Chief of Advanced Materials and Wiley Vice President & Publishing Director, has been awarded two honorary professorships, one by Nanjing University of Technology and one by Shanghai Jiao Tong University. Founded in 1896 and 1902 respectively, Shanghai Jiao Tong University (SJTU) and Nanjing University of Technology are among the oldest and most prestigious universities in China.

Maney set to publish CRANIO: The Journal of Craniomandibular & Sleep Practice

Academic publisher Maney Publishing has announced that it has purchased and will publish CRANIO: The Journal of Craniomandibular & Sleep Practice from the beginning of 2014. Published quarterly, CRANIO (currently published in Chattanooga, Tennessee) claims to be the oldest and largest journal in the world devoted to temporomandibular disorders, and now also includes articles on all aspects of sleep medicine.

Umeå School of Education selects Co-Action Publishing to publish Education Inquiry

Open access scholarly publisher Co-Action Publishing has been selected by the Umeå School of Education, Umeå University, Sweden, to publish the School's peer reviewed Open Access journal, Education Inquiry. The new journal moves to the Co-Action Publishing portfolio as of September 16.
