Elsevier and IEDA launch data rescue competition for Earth Sciences discipline

STM publisher Elsevier and IEDA, an NSF-funded data facility in the geosciences at the Lamont-Doherty Earth Observatory of Columbia University, are jointly launching a new competition, the International Data Rescue Competition. The competition aims to improve preservation and access of research data in the earth sciences discipline.

SAGE partners with Canadian International Council to publish International Journal

Academic publisher SAGE has announced a partnership with the Canadian International Council (CIC) and the Bill Graham Centre for Contemporary International History (CCIH) to publish Canada's pre-eminent journal of global policy analysis, International Journal. The journal publishes brief, policy-relevant articles alongside peer-reviewed scholarly assessments of interest to foreign policy makers, analysts and academics around the world.

IET selects CCC's RightsLink to manage article processing charges for OA journal publications

Licensing solutions provider Copyright Clearance Center, Inc. (CCC) has announced that The Institution of Engineering and Technology (IET) has chosen CCC's RightsLink for Open Access to manage article processing charges for all of its open access journal publications. This includes the recently launched, The Journal of Engineering.

The ACRL 2013 came to a close with more than 4,800 library staff, exhibitors, speakers and guests from 50 US states and 19 countries meeting at the Indiana Convention Center. The conference discussed the changing role of academic libraries.
