LRG has launched its third annual study of North American library spending and budgeting. Respondents to the study will be eligible to download the final report at no charge when the results are published and will be entered into a sweepstakes drawing for an Apple iPad.

IEEE forms 4-pair Power over Ethernet study group

IEEE has formed a study group to consider initiating a project to standardise 4-pair Power over Ethernet (PoE). The IEEE 802.3 4-pair PoE study group will consider a 4-pair solution's capability to enhance energy efficiency and provide greater than 25.5 W of power in improving PoE.

NERL operations to relocate to CRL

Center for Research Libraries (CRL) and the North East Research Libraries Consortium (NERL), a non-profit program operating under the auspices of Yale University, have come to an agreement to relocate NERL operations to CRL. Under this new arrangement, NERL will be managed as a cooperative program under the CRL organisational umbrella.

ARL publishes Academic Health Sciences Library Statistics 2010-2011

The Association of Research Libraries (ARL) has released ARL Academic Health Sciences Library Statistics 2010-2011, which presents data describing collections, expenditures, personnel, and services in 63 health sciences libraries at ARL member institutions in the US and Canada. In 2010-2011, the reporting health sciences libraries held a median of 217,811 volumes, spent a total of $240,675,218, and employed 1,977 FTE staff.

Gale and Library Media Connection seek nominations for the 2013 TEAMS Award

Gale and Library Media Connection magazine are calling all media specialists and educators at K-12 public and private schools in the US and Canada to share their collaboration success stories and submit for the 2013 TEAMS Award. The TEAMS Award recognises teacher-media specialist teams in elementary, middle and high school settings for their critical collaboration to promote learning and achievement.
