Elsevier launches Japanese user interface to Scopus

STM publisher Elsevier has announced the launch of a Japanese user interface to Scopus. The interface provides Japanese users with the ability to find their way through the product in their local language.

China's trademark output more than tripled that of US, says Thomson CompuMark report

Thomson CompuMark has released its 2012 State of Trademarks report. China led global registrars, with the Chinese trademark office publishing nearly 925,000 trademarks in 2012, more than triple the US' total of 234,527. This was followed by Brazil: 114,668, Turkey: 86,517, and France: 86,348.

World Scientific Publishing and YBP Library Services sign eBook agreement

STM publisher World Scientific Publishing has signed a new agreement with YBP Library Services (YBP), the academic division of Baker & Taylor. Under the deal, customers will be able to access the publisher's 2012-2013 Front List Full Collection of eBooks that will be available for purchase from World Scientific Publishing through GOBI3, YBP's acquisition and collection management interface.

IOS Press and TERI Press sign hosting agreement for three journals

STM publisher IOS Press and TERI Press have reached an agreement to make TERI Press journals available through IOS Press. Metapress, IOS Press' online journal platform, will now host three of TERI Press' journals.

Statement calls on universities to provide input on access to federally funded research

The Association of American Universities (AAU), Association of Public and Land-grant Universities (APLU) and Association of Research Libraries (ARL) have released a statement calling on the research university community to provide input to the US government for increasing access to the results of federally funded research.
