ORCID, ISNI plan interoperability

ORCID and ISNI have issued a statement on the need for interoperation between the two and about the first collaborative steps in defining system interoperability. They agreed on the need to aim for interoperation through linking and of sharing public data between the two systems.

Thomson Reuters launches EndNote Basic online offering, provides researchers with new alternative in the marketplace

The Intellectual Property & Science business of Thomson Reuters has announced the launch of its EndNote Basic online offering, an enhanced solution with features and functionality for reference management users looking for a free alternative. EndNote Basic includes storage for two gigabytes of attachments and 50,000 references, as well as the top 20+ most frequently used styles.

Food and Environmental Virology to be official publication of the International Society for Food and Environmental Virology

STM publisher Springer has announced that its journal Food and Environmental Virology is now the official publication of the International Society for Food and Environmental Virology. The new affiliation takes effect immediately. The journal, founded in 2009 by Springer, was accepted in January 2013 by Medline, the US National Library of Medicine's bibliographic database.

Stockholm University in Sweden selects EBSCO Discovery Service as its new custom discovery solution

Library resources provider EBSCO has announced that Stockholm University in Sweden has selected EBSCO Discovery Service (EDS) as its new custom discovery solution. The library wanted to provide more innovative services to its students and EDS provided them with the single interface they were looking for and the ability to navigate their searches through a native interface and an API.

SAGE announces two executive appointments

SAGE has announced the internal appointments of Martha Sedgwick as Executive Director of Product Innovation within the UK, and Todd Baldwin as Executive Director, Online Library and Reference Publishing within the US. Sedgwick and Baldwin will now join SAGE's global senior management team, providing a consolidated approach to SAGE's online product development for the library and college market.
