New issue brief from Elsevier identifies potential impact of evidence-based medicine in meeting healthcare challenges

STM publisher Elsevier has announced the availability of the first in a series of issue briefs on evidence-based medicine (EBM). The issue brief, 'Building a Business Case for Evidence-Based Medicine,' reveals the urgent need for EBM, as identified in a roundtable discussion of healthcare industry thought leaders at the CMIO Leadership Forum: Transforming Healthcare Through Evidence-based Medicine, last fall in Chicago.

medicalphysicsweb launches iPad supplement

Non-profit scientific publisher IOP Publishing (IOP) has announced that medicalphysicsweb, the website for the medical physics community, has launched an iPad version of its supplement, the medicalphysicsweb review. The supplement, which is available to download from the Apple Store for free, is published several times a year to coincide with the key conferences in the field.

Australia's Swinburne University of Technology goes live with Ex Libris' Alma

Library automation solutions provider Ex Libris Group has announced that Australia's Swinburne University of Technology - an Alma collaborative partner - is in production with the Ex Libris Alma library management solution. In addition, Swinburne University is the first live Alma site whose cloud-based services are delivered by the company's new data center in Singapore.

OCLC Global Council discusses impact of global cooperation on libraries

Library Copyright Alliance supports GSU in amicus brief in copyright lawsuit

The LCA has filed an amicus brief in support of Georgia State University in the appeal of Cambridge U. Press et al. v. Mark P. Becker et al. LCA argues that GSU's content policy is consistent with widespread best practices for fair use at academic libraries.
