Elsevier launches new journal - Anthropocene

STM publisher Elsevier has announced the launch of a new journal, Anthropocene. As a quarterly journal Anthropocene will publish research focusing on the effect of human activity on landscapes, oceans, the atmosphere, cryosphere, and ecosystems. The journal will be edited by Professor Anne Chin of the University of Colorado, who will be supported by a distinguished team of Associate Editors and an Editorial Board.

BMJ Group set to publish military medical title, Journal of the Royal Army Medical Corps

Medical publisher the BMJ Group has announced that it will take over production and publication of the Journal of the Royal Army Medical Corps (JRAMC) from March 2013. First issue of the journal under the new partnership is due in March. Lt Col Jeff Garner, a consultant colorectal surgeon at Rotherham NHS Foundation Trust, is the editor of the journal.

JISC funds facilitates open access to 6,500 digitised museum objects

The JISC has funded a project to make 6,500 newly digitised objects from University College London and the University of Reading's diverse museum collections openly accessible to students, teachers and the public. The digital artefacts encompass a range of disciplines from sciences to the arts.

RSC and India's CSIR partner to advance cheminformatics for novel therapies

The Royal Society of Chemistry has signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU) with the Council of Scientific and Industrial Research (CSIR) in India to raise awareness of the importance of cheminformatics - or eScience - in accelerating the discovery of novel therapies for neglected diseases such as tuberculosis and malaria. The RSC will work in partnership with India's CSIR on an Open Source Drug Discovery (OSDD) initiative for the next three years.
