Elsevier launches new journal - Journal of Environmental Chemical Engineering

STM publisher Elsevier has announced the launch of a new journal - Journal of Environmental Chemical Engineering (JECE). The new online-only journal is specifically geared towards scientific communities that are highly committed to advancing research in environmental sustainability by bridging two strong fields - engineering and chemistry.

IET's essential engineering intelligence now available to over 1 million researchers and academics in China

The Institution of Engineering and Technology (IET) and Chinese engineering portal EEFOCUS have announced a partnership that will see the IET's essential engineering intelligence made available to over 1 million researchers and academics throughout China. The move is part of the IET's mission to make engineering content available to as wide a global audience as possible.

Oxford University Press acquires Nelson Thornes

Academic publisher Oxford University Press (OUP) has acquired Nelson Thornes, extending OUP's range of educational publishing. OUP acquired the publisher from Infinitas Learning, one of Europe's leading providers of products and services for teaching and learning, for an undisclosed sum.

International Publishers Association appoints José Borghino as Policy Director

The International Publishers Association (IPA) has announced the appointment of José Borghino as Policy Director, effective March 11, 2013. In the newly created position, Borghino will report to IPA Secretary General Jens Bammel and will be based at the IPA's headquarters in Geneva. He comes to the IPA from the Australian Publishers Association where he served as Manager of Industry Representation.

Washington University in St. Louis opts for Ex Libris Primo

Library automation solutions provider Ex Libris Group has announced that the University Libraries of Washington University in St. Louis have selected a cloud-based installation of the Primo discovery and delivery solution. Washington University, a member of the Association of Research Libraries (ARL), has also subscribed to the bX Recommender, one of the bX suite of usage-based services.
