Russian Government selects Scopus for national research assessment

STM publisher Elsevier has announced that the Russian government has officially selected Scopus as a tool for its national research assessment. Measuring research performance forms a significant part of Russia's 'Science and Technology Development in 2013-2020' program as declared by Prime Minister Dmitry Medvedev in 2012.

Thomson Reuters expands Book Citation Index through partnerships with top publishers

The IP & Science business of Thomson Reuters has announced the expansion of the Book Citation Index through partnerships with top publishers such as Elsevier, Johns Hopkins University Press and the University of Chicago Press. These publishers, among others, will greatly enhance available content in the Index by adding 10,000 books in 2013, increasing the total to nearly 50,000 books from a variety of commercial, non-profit and university presses worldwide.

ProQuest set to acquire EBL

Information resources and technologies provider ProQuest has signed a definitive agreement to acquire Ebook Library (EBL), which will significantly expand its e-book delivery and aggregation capabilities with libraries worldwide. The acquisition will further ProQuest's goal of enhancing the research experience, enabling users to seamlessly discover content across multiple formats including books, journals, dissertations, newspapers, and video.

Knovel announces expansion to Yaws' Critical Property Data for Chemical Engineers and Chemists

Knovel has announced an expansion to Yaws' Critical Property Data for Chemical Engineers and Chemists which it launched in July 2012. The expanded database now includes data on superheated, saturated and subcooled fluids, mixtures, refrigerants and various materials used in chemical plant construction and equipment design - information previously unavailable in a single reference database.

IOP Publishing endorses KBART

Non-profit scientific publisher IOP Publishing (IOP) has endorsed the KBART (Knowledge Bases And Related Tools) Recommended Practice, a joint NISO and UKSG initiative, as part of its commitment to supporting librarians. The initiative has established industry standards for the timely exchange of metadata between content providers and libraries in OpenURL knowledge bases.

Ingram adds Random House content to MyiLibrary e-book platform

Ingram Content Group has announced that it will now offer Random House, Inc. US titles to libraries via the MyiLibrary platform. Random House will add more than 36,000 titles to the platform including front list and popular back list titles from all imprints.
