NIH to embed ORCID identifiers in grant application workflows

The US National Institutes of Health (NIH) will join Wellcome Trust in working to embed ORCID identifiers in grant application workflows. ORCID undertakes to provide funders a means to better track research and understand the impact of funding while reducing the burden for researchers of reporting the products of their research.

Elsevier launches new journal - Journal of Unconventional Oil and Gas Resources

STM publisher Elsevier has announced the launch of a new journal - Journal of Unconventional Oil and Gas Resources (JUOGR). The journal will be edited by Dr. John Yilin Wang from Pennsylvania State University, supported by a distinguished board of subject editors including leading experts in the field of petroleum geology, geophysics, and engineering.

Thomson Reuters appoints Gordon Macomber as managing director of Scientific and Scholarly Research unit

Cornell, Columbia Libraries to build joint infrastructure with Mellon Foundation grant

The libraries at Columbia University and Cornell University are taking a new step in their 2CUL partnership: integrating a major part of their operations. The two will integrate their technical services departments with the help of a three-year, $350,000 grant from the Andrew W. Mellon Foundation.
