Karger Publishers and BenchSci partnership to help scientists find the right products for their experiments

Medical and scientific publishing company Karger Publishers has announced a partnership with BenchSci, a life science machine learning startup, to help scientists find biological product data included in scientific articles faster. The partnership between Karger Publishers and BenchSci will address a common challenge in biomedical research. Researchers have to identify and buy the right biological products for their experiments (e.g. antibodies to measure proteins).

Oxford University Press to publish Integrative Biology

Academic publisher Oxford University Press (OUP) and the Royal Society of Chemistry have announced the transfer of the journal Integrative Biology from the Royal Society of Chemistry to OUP. Integrative Biology, currently in its 10th volume, is a multi- and inter-disciplinary journal for research using experimental or computational quantitative technologies to characterize biological systems at the molecular, cellular, tissue, and population levels.

California Precision Medicine Consortium joins NIH to launch All of Us Research Program

The 'All of Us' Research Program officially opened for enrollment on May 6, 2018. Led by the National Institutes of Health (NIH), All of Us is an unprecedented effort to gather genetic, biological, environmental, health and lifestyle data from 1 million or more volunteer participants living in the United States. A major component of the federal Precision Medicine Initiative, the program's ultimate goal is to accelerate research and improve health.

Macmillan Learning, Intellus Learning, and OhioLINK partner to provide students with affordable materials and insights

Macmillan Learning, a premier educational solutions and insights provider, and OhioLINK, a consortium of 120 academic libraries distributed among 91 Ohio colleges and universities, have announced a strategic offering designed to make course materials more affordable. This multi-pronged approach includes a textbook pricing agreement and Intellus Learning, a Macmillan Learning product, as a learning tool for participants in a state-wide grant supporting Open Educational Resources (OER) in the state of Ohio.

Deadline for Library Assessment Conference 2018 call for proposals extended to May 11

The Association of Research Libraries (ARL), the University of Washington Libraries, and the Conference Steering Committee have extended the deadline for submitting paper and poster proposals for the 2018 Library Assessment Conference to May 11, 2018. The seventh biennial Library Assessment Conference will be held in Houston, Texas, December 5–7, 2018, and is co-hosted by the University of Houston Libraries and Texas A&M Libraries.
