Wolters Kluwer Health honoured with 34 awards from the American Society of Healthcare Publication Editors for editorial and design excellence

Wolters Kluwer Health, a global provider of information and point-of-care solutions for the healthcare industry, has announced that its Lippincott journal portfolio has won 34 awards across 25 categories, including Publication of the Year, in the American Society of Healthcare Publication Editors (ASHPE) annual awards competition. ASHPE recognises member articles and publications for editorial, design, print and online award categories.

Swedish universities and research institutions cancel agreement with Elsevier over open access

Swedish universities and research institutions will reportedly not renew their current contract with publisher Elsevier. The Bibsam Consortium, which represents 85 higher education and research institutions in the country, has said that its current agreement with Elsevier would not be renewed after June 30, 2018. The move comes not long after academic institutions in other countries have let publishers' subscriptions lapse when fee negotiations come to a standoff.

AAAS and China Association for Science and Technology explore new collaboration

Leaders of the China Association for Science and Technology and counterparts at the American Association for the Advancement of Science explored ways to build on a longstanding collaboration between the two scientific organisations through science communication and education partnerships. During a meeting at AAAS headquarters in Washington, D.C., six CAST representatives highlighted a three-day world conference the organisation is hosting on science literacy in Beijing beginning on Sept. 17.

Atypon launched six new publication websites on Literatum in Q1

Atypon launched six new publication websites in the first quarter of this year on Literatum, the scholarly publishing industry's most widely used publishing platform. Of the six publishers, all who are among the most influential in their fields, four are new to Literatum. All six publishers use PageBuilder, Literatum's widget-based user experience (UX) design tool, to maintain their sites. With widgets that link directly to their content, PageBuilder gives non-technical users direct, real-time control of their site's content, design, and branding.
