Elsevier to move new eBooks to EPUB3 format

STM publisher Elsevier will move its new eBooks to EPUB3, becoming the first major STM publisher to commit to the latest, most advanced eBook format available. By moving to EPUB3, Elsevier's eBooks will be able to take advantage of the format's ability to provide multi-media and interactive experiences within eBooks. Elsevier currently publishes more than 25,000 eBooks in a variety of formats.

OSA to exhibit at the USA Science and Engineering Festival

The Optical Society (OSA) will be exhibiting at the USA Science and Engineering Festival, taking place in Washington, D.C. April 26-27. OSA volunteers will be on hand to perform education demonstrations in the 'Big Top Physics' tent, a joint project between OSA, Sigma Pi Sigma, the American Physical Society, the American Association of Physics Teachers and the Society of Physics Students.

SWAN signs 5-year agreement with SirsiDynix

Illinois-based SWAN (System Wide Automation Network) has signed a 5-year agreement with SirsiDynix, selecting the Symphony integrated library system, the Enterprise discovery tool, and the eResource Central digital content management tool as the best fits for its 77 member libraries. SWAN's Enterprise implementation will also feature SirsiDynix's new, robust integration with EBSCO's EDS platform for the SWAN member libraries.
