Jisc, Wellcome Trust welcome UK funding bodies' open access policy

Jisc has welcomed the announcement by Higher Education Funding Council for England (HEFCE), the Scottish Funding Council, the Higher Education Funding Council for Wales and the Department for Employment and Learning that from 2016 they will expect all articles submitted to the Research Excellence Framework (REF), a system for assessing the quality of research, to be available by open access. The Wellcome Trust has also welcomed the policy statement from HEFCE and the other three UK higher education funding bodies.

Frontiers launches two new OA journals - Frontiers in Medicine and Frontiers in Surgery

Universidad Autónoma de Occidente in Colombia selects EBSCO Discovery Service

Library resources provider EBSCO Information Services (EBSCO) has announced that the Universidad Autónoma de Occidente has chosen EBSCO Discovery ServiceTM (EDS) as its discovery tool. Universidad Autónoma de Occidente will work with EBSCO in the next several months to add its Institutional Repository into EDS, providing even more content from the single search interface - creating a truly custom collection.
