CEN and ASTM International sign Technical Cooperation Agreement

CEN, the European Committee for Standardization, and ASTM International have signed a Technical Cooperation Agreement with the aim to facilitate global dialogue and coordination in specific standardisation areas of mutual interest. The Agreement establishes a framework for technical cooperation and information exchange between the two standardisation organisations, thus facilitating dialogue and convergence on the technical requirements and related attributes of standards development, and preventing duplication of efforts, for the benefit of their respective stakeholders.

O'Reilly announces new 2020 conference schedule

O'Reilly, the premier source for insight-driven learning on technology and business, has announced its new 2020 conference schedule. To meet evolving technology and business demands, the company has made several changes to its historic conference line-up. This includes co-locating several of its namesake events, launching a new event series called the Infrastructure & Ops Conference, and emphasising learning paths as a foundational element of the event program to better suit the needs of attendees.

Weizmann Institute of Science opts for Ex Libris Esploro to manage and showcase research output and data

Ex Libris®, a ProQuest company, has announced that Israel's Weizmann Institute of Science has selected the Ex Libris EsploroTM research services solution to help the institute capture research output and data from external sources, showcase the institute's research work, and comply with funders' open-access policies. The Esploro solution will replace Weizmann's institutional research repository and will be integrated with the institute's research information system.

ARL membership elects ARL Board of Directors 2019–2020

The Association of Research Libraries (ARL) elected its 2019–2020 Board of Directors on September 24 during the Fall 2019 Association Meeting in Washington, DC. At the end of the meeting on September 25, Lorraine Haricombe, vice provost and director of libraries at The University of Texas at Austin, began a one-year term as president of ARL.
