Learned societies engage Information Power to help transition to OA and explore Plan S-compliant business models

Wellcome, in partnership with UK Research and Innovation (UKRI) and the Association of Learned & Professional Society Publishers (ALPSP), have engaged Information Power to explore a range of potential strategies and business models through which learned societies can transition to Open Access and adapt and thrive under Plan S. Plan S, developed by the European Commission in partnership with Science Europe, seeks to move to a world where all research findings are made Open Access (OA).

First online seminar in the ICSTI 2019 Webinar series scheduled for February 14

The International Council for Scientific and Technical Information (ICSTI) has announced its first complimentary online seminar in the ICSTI 2019 Webinar series. The webinar 'From Information to Knowledge with AI' is scheduled for February 14, 2019, from10:30 am -12:00 noon EST, and will be hosted by the Copyright Clearance Center. The webinar will explore practical solutions as well as the theory underpinning knowledge creation and delivery using Artificial Intelligence.

IFLA joins call for deletion of articles 11 and 13 in the EU copyright reform

International Federation of Library Associations and Institutions (IFLA), along with 89 organisations, defenders of freedom of expression and freedom of access to information, has co-signed a letter asking for the deletion of controversial articles in the proposed European copyright directive. IFLA had already openly underlined the threat posed by these provisions to access to information. There is right now momentum for their deletion.
