New Elsevier/Ipsos MORI study shows that the research ecosystem is changing rapidly and profoundly

In 10 years' time, the academic world will see new funding models, methods of collaboration, and ways of conceptualising research and measuring its impact - all driven by advances in technology, reveals an empirical study, conducted by information analytics business Elsevier and market research organisation Ipsos MORI. Tech advances are also likely to make research practice and publication faster, and more open. Researchers can expect to benefit from greater career flexibility, better feedback on their work and improved reproducibility.

Brill expands Biology publishing portfolio with the addition of OA journal, Contributions to Zoology

International publisher Brill has announced the addition of the Open Access journal, Contributions to Zoology, to its Biology publishing portfolio. Brill has taken over the publishing responsibilities from Naturalis Biodiversity Center. Focusing on all systematics-related branches of comparative zoology (including paleontology), the journal began as a publication of the Committee in charge of the library of the Dutch Royal Zoological Society "Natura Artis Magistra".

BMJ signs agreement for sales in Japan with USACO Corporation

Healthcare knowledge provider BMJ has signed an exclusive agreement with USACO Corporation for the sale of BMJ resources to institutional customers in Japan. Under the agreement, USACO will be the exclusive agent for institutional sales of a range of BMJ's resources across Japan.

Shortlist for LBF International Excellence Awards 2019 announced

The shortlist for The London Book Fair International Excellence Awards 2019 has been announced, with USA leading the way with five nominations, closely followed by Brazil and India with three each - and 26 countries represented. The awards, which are held in partnership with the UK Publishers Association (PA), celebrate publishing success in seventeen categories, representing the best publishing ambassadors, innovative publishing, and ground-breaking initiatives in the industry.
