Plan S - Physics societies warn of 'irrecoverable damage'

The European Physical Society (EPS) has warned that a major open-access initiative in Europe could cause 'irrecoverable damage' if it is implemented too quickly. In a statement, the EPS says that while it welcomes the proposal – known as Plan S — as a 'medium to long-term vision', its proponents must get more support by engaging further with the scientific community.

Wiley extends partnership with the British Educational Research Association to advance educational research

John Wiley and Sons Inc. and the British Educational Research Association (BERA) have announced that they are renewing their current publishing partnership and extending it with the transition of the fourth BERA journal Curriculum Journal. This international peer-reviewed journal publishes original contributions to the study of curriculum, pedagogy and assessment. It will be available on subscription from Wiley, beginning January 2020.

BMJ partners with Editage to offer BMJ Author Services

Healthcare knowledge provider BMJ has partnered with Editage to offer language editing and translation services to medical researchers who seek to publish in healthcare science journals. BMJ Author Services will enable medical researchers across the globe to clearly communicate their research, potentially in one of BMJ's 70 medical and allied science journal titles.

eLife invests in open-source content production tool, Texture

eLife has announced its investment in the development of Texture, an open-source toolset for the editing and production of manuscripts, designed to be integrated into publishers' editorial and content-delivery systems. Originally created by Substance Software GmbH (Substance) as a JavaScript library of tools for web-based content editing, Texture has been supported by a community of organisations collectively known as the Substance Consortium and including Érudit, the Public Knowledge Project (PKP) and SciELO.

Gale and EveryLibrary partner to launch nationwide campaign to promote how libraries support entrepreneurship

Gale, a Cengage company, has partnered with EveryLibrary, a national non-profit organisation dedicated to non-partisan political action on behalf of libraries, to launch a nationwide campaign to help raise awareness of the services libraries offer to entrepreneurs and startups. The campaign will run throughout the year with the first event kicking off during National Entrepreneurship Week, February 16-23, 2019, where EveryLibrary and the International Business Innovation Association (InBIA) will host a free webinar titled: Libraries and Incubators on February 19 at 2 p.m. EST.
