Cambridge University Press and Jisc Collections announce major UK Open Access deal Academic publisher Cambridge University Press and the Jisc Collections have reached a progressive agreement, which will enable UK universities and colleges to make a sustainable transition to publishing more Open Access content in the publisher's journals. JISC Collections provides UK academic institutions with shared infrastructure and services and the three-year deal is designed to encourage those institutions to publish more Open Access content in Press journals. More Search for more news in this Category Search for more news in this Theme Support for OA Switchboard initiative continues to grow On December 6th 2018, a group of stakeholders representing research funding organisations, academic libraries, scholarly publishers, and open infrastructure providers met in London to discuss a proposal for addressing the growing set of challenges in the implementation of institutional and funder policies supporting open access publication. The result of this initial stakeholder meeting was broad support for this initiative, tentatively titled the OA Switchboard, and in the weeks since this initial meeting the support for this initiative has continued to grow. Under the arrangement, universities and colleges that use Jisc's services can access the long range wide area network (LoRaWAN) type of wireless network, which is specifically intended for IoT technologies.
