Elsevier publishes 20th edition of The Harriet Lane Handbook |
STM publisher Elsevier has announced the availability of the 20th edition of The Harriet Lane Handbook, the first medical reference book on paediatric diagnosis and therapy written by paediatric residents with guidance from faculty advisers at the Johns Hopkins University School of Medicine. Since 1951, the handbook has been the go-to reference for point-of-care clinical information on the treatment of paediatric patients. More

The Intellectual Property and Science business of Thomson Reuters has named the Netherlands as the winner of the inaugural Thomson Reuters Analytics World Challenge, a unique competition utilising indicators from InCites to measure the global impact of the scientific research produced by countries participating in the Fédération Internationale de Football Association (FIFA) World Cup tournament. Libraries and archives leave international copyright discussions empty handed after countries fail to reach agreement again |
Discussions regarding an international copyright instrument for libraries and archives again collapsed inconclusively at the 28th meeting of the Standing Committee on Copyright & Related Rights (SCCR) in Geneva, from June30 – July 4. In the early hours of July 5, Member States finally 'agreed to disagree' on any conclusions on copyright exceptions for libraries and archives, as well as a draft treaty for broadcasting. More

Authors Guild v. HathiTrust: Implications for libraries |
Jonathan Band, policybandwidth and legal counsel to the Library Copyright Alliance (LCA), recently released an analysis of the recent Authors Guild v. HathiTrust decision, "What Does the HathiTrust Decision Mean for Libraries?". As Band notes, 'The decision has implications for libraries that go far beyond the specific facts of the case. This paper offers some preliminary thoughts on what these implications may be.'
