Researchers positive about Open access but some uncertainty still remains, says 2014 Taylor & Francis Open Access Survey

Academic publisher Taylor & Francis has released the 2014 Taylor & Francis Open Access Survey. The survey asked researchers a series of questions on their perceptions of open access; their attitudes, values and understanding of it; and what they believe the future of research communication to be. Having previously surveyed their authors in 2013, Taylor & Francis are now able to offer some intriguing shifts in opinions, placing responses from both years next to each other to show how views have changed, and to what degree.

Elsevier announces February 2015 launch of Current Opinion in Behavioral Sciences journal

STM publisher Elsevier has announced the launch of a new review journal - Current Opinion in Behavioral Sciences. The journal serves as an educational forum for review papers providing updates on the expanding volume of information published in the field of behavioural sciences. The journal will be co-edited by Professors Trevor Robbins (University of Cambridge) and Cindy Lustig (University of Michigan).

Thomson Reuters' new study analyses patent data and scientific literature for clues to the next decade's biggest breakthroughs

The Intellectual Property & Science business of Thomson Reuters has released The World in 2025: 10 Predictions of Innovation, a new report that predicts the landscape of science and technology in 2025 by mining global patent data and scientific literature. To conduct the study, researchers identified the top 10 emerging scientific research fronts based on an analysis of citation rankings using Thomson Reuters Web of Science.

Colorado School of Mines to use Ex Libris Alma

Library automation solutions provider Ex Libris Group has announced that the Colorado School of Mines (Mines), a leading science and engineering university, has selected the Ex Libris Alma resource management solution, which will complement the school's Ex Libris Primo discovery solution. Alma will replace a number of systems currently in use at the library, including the Ex Libris Voyager integrated library system (ILS) and SFX OpenURL link resolver.
