Global collection of science, engineering and technology content now available at the click of a button

Access to a global collection of leading science, engineering and technology content, with over 190,000 technical documents, including 70,000 journal articles, 6,000 eBook chapters and 1,300 conference publications, is now available to engineering practitioners at the touch of a button. In order to make its Digital Library more accessible to individuals, the Institution of Engineering and Technology (IET) has launched a new flexible way to access high quality content in its IET Digital Library.

OCLC and Elsevier partnership to ensure ScienceDirect holdings data kept up-to-date in WorldCat without library intervention

OCLC, the non-profit computer library service and research organisation, and STM publisher Elsevier will work together to automate the process to keep e-book and e-journal holdings from ScienceDirect, Elsevier's full-text platform for research literature, up-to-date in WorldCat and library catalogues. The automated process ensures seamless access to subscribed content without intervention from library staff.

Thieme makes scientific and research publications available via Research4Life

Medical and scientific publishing house Thieme Publishing Group is making its scientific publications freely accessible in developing countries by signing the latest version of the 'Statements on Document Delivery' issued by the International Association of Scientific, Technical and Medical Publishers (STM). Medical professionals around the globe would now be able to base their work on the latest scientific insights – from the medical student in Angola, to the physician in Haiti and the nurse in Yemen.

H.W. Wilson Foundation in deal with EBSCO to fund digitisation of the Doctoral Dissertations Accepted by American Universities

The H.W. Wilson Foundation has announced that it will fund the digitization of the print index Doctoral Dissertations Accepted by American Universities (DDAAU) under a new agreement with EBSCO Information Services (EBSCO). EBSCO will digitise the content and build a free database in cooperation with the Congregational Library & Archives in Boston.

SAGE and the Society for Public Health Education launch new journal, Pedagogy in Health Promotion

Academic publisher SAGE and the Society for Public Health Education (SOPHE)have announced the launch of a new journal, Pedagogy in Health Promotion: The Scholarship of Teaching and Learning (PHP). PHP will publish its first issue in spring 2015. Published quarterly, PHP will address how teaching and learning contribute to the development of health promotion professionals working in a variety of roles with a range of populations.

Cambridge University Press announces support for UK Education Reform Summit

Academic publisher Cambridge University Press has announced its support for the UK Education Reform Summit 2014. The summit, which will see senior members in education policy, business leaders and education specialists from around the world and the UK come together to discuss UK education reform, will be held at Lancaster House and the Emmanuel Centre on July 9-10. The Minister for Education, Michael Gove, will be delivering a number of talks outlining his vision on reforms for UK education in the coming years.

AIAA and CLOCKSS in deal to preserve AIAA publications

The American Institute of Aeronautics and Astronautics (AIAA) has entered into a partnership with Controlled Lots of Copies Keep Stuff Safe (CLOCKSS) to preserve its publications in case of catastrophe. The agreement guarantees that AIAA publications would be available to researchers and other parties in the event that AIAA's ability to make the works available is catastrophically impaired.

Library automation solutions provider Ex Libris Group has announced a new collaboration with YBP Library Services (YBP) to offer a new, streamlined acquisition process to academic and research libraries that use the Ex Libris Alma and YBP GOBI3 (Global Online Bibliographic Information) platforms. YBP is the academic division of Baker & Taylor and the leading provider of content-management services for libraries. In addition, the collaboration will enable libraries to reduce costs associated with acquisitions.
