ACS Publications has announced the launch of a new journal, Environmental Science & Technology Letters (ES&T Letters). The new journal will accelerate the pace of research across the environmental field by providing the global multidisciplinary research community with a leading publishing outlet to highlight urgent critical findings in a letters format.

Springer unveils new book series - Trends in Augmentation of Human Performance

STM publisher Springer has announced that it is launching a new book series entitled Trends in Augmentation of Human Performance. The series will focus on the enhancement of human skills, attributes and competencies through the use of technology, medicine and therapy. Approximately three books per year are planned.

Digital sales accounted for 12 percent of UK publishers' total revenues in 2012

The Publishers Association (PA) has released the PA Statistics Yearbook according to which, digital sales accounted for 12 percent of UK publishers' total revenues of £3.3 billion in 2012. Publishers' total sales revenues - physical and digital - rose 4 percent. Total digital sales rose 66 percent, to £411 million, and total fiction digital sales rose 149 per cent, to £172 million.

De Gruyter acquires German publisher Ontos

Academic publisher De Gruyter has announced the acquisition of German publisher Ontos, effective May 1. Under the terms of the agreement, Dr. Rafael Hüntelmann, who founded Ontos in 2003, will continue to manage the publishing house's portfolio. All eBooks previously available at Ontos' website can now be obtained at De Gruyter Online.
