Elsevier expands DirectCourse's web-based learning Curricula

STM publisher Elsevier has announced that Elsevier's DirectCourse has expanded, adding a new curriculum, College of Personal Assistance and Caregiving (CPAC). This interactive, web-based curriculum is designed to train and educate personal care assistants, home care providers and family caregivers caring for people with physical disabilities and older adults to live independently in their communities.

DynaMed ranks highest among ten online clinical resources in fourth independent report

DynaMed, a clinical reference tool designed for use primarily at the point of care, has ranked highest among ten online clinical resources in a new study in the Journal of Clinical Epidemiology. The resources were evaluated in three areas - timeliness of content updating, breadth of coverage and the quality of evidence reporting.

McGraw-Hill Education in deal with Vibal Publishing to expand reach into international markets

McGraw-Hill Education, a division of The McGraw-Hill Companies, Inc., has announced a new agreement with Vibal Publishing, a Philippines-based provider of educational tools and resources for education, to adapt the company's McGraw-Hill My Math and Glencoe Math programs for use in the country's private schools. The agreement represents the latest step by McGraw-Hill Education to expand the reach of its content and technology into growing international markets and adapt it to meet the needs of local teachers and students.

20 MM counters AAP response to California's free college textbooks legislation

AAP has challenged the notion that historic college textbook legislation unanimously passed by the California State Senate could be provided to undergraduates for "free." The 20 Million Minds Foundation says AAP does not grasp what its pricing has done to the finances of the college student.

Five more publishers endorse KBART Working Group recommendations

NISO and the UKSG have announced that BioOne, JSTOR, LOCKSS, the Royal Society of Chemistry and SpringerLink have publicly endorsed the Phase I recommendations of the KBART (Knowledge Bases And Related Tools) Working Group. The group is a joint NISO/UKSG initiative exploring data problems within OpenURL.

Sheridan upgrades The Endocrine Society's Endo Pubs app to include full-text

Journal production services provider Dartmouth Journal Services (DJS) and The Sheridan Technology Lab have upgraded the Endo Pubs app, which was originally launched as an abstracts app for The Endocrine Society's (TES) journals, to a full-text plus annual meeting abstracts version. TES titles include JCEM: The Journal of Clinical Endocrinology & Metabolism, Molecular Endocrinology, Endocrinology and Endocrine Reviews.

Library solutions provider 3M Library Systems has announced that the 3M Cloud Library App is now available in Barnes & Noble's NOOK Apps store, making it easier for owners of NOOK tablets to borrow eBooks from local libraries. Anyone with a NOOK HD, NOOK HD+, NOOK Tablet or NOOK Color can download the 3M Cloud Library App directly from the NOOK Apps storefront, and then transfer digital content wirelessly to their device without having to physically connect to a computer.
