Frankfurt Book Fair witnesses ten percent growth in participation/networking of international content industries |
The Frankfurt Book Fair ended October 14, 2012, with a small increase in visitor numbers on last year, while demonstrating the 'courage and innovative power of Europe, and of the international publishing industry'. The conference and seminar programme of the Frankfurt Academy recorded a ten percent increase in the number of participants compared to last year. Around 3,300 people used the Frankfurt Book Fair as a chance to meet the 'movers & shakers' of the digital book industry. More

Not-for-profit life sciences publisher CABI has announced that its specialist bibliographic, abstracting and indexing database, Global Health, now has over 2 million records. Derived from over 6,000 journals, reports, books and conferences, the open serials policy and coverage of international and grey literature mean that over 50 percent of the serials in Global Health are unique to the database. The Library Copyright Alliance (LCA) has welcomed Judge Harold Baer's decision saying that the HathiTrust Digital Library's use of digitised works is a fair use permitted under the Copyright Act. Baer's ruling allows HathiTrust to continue serving scholars and the print disabled. More
