JISC Collections license data added to Serial Solutions' 360 Resource Manager

Serials Solutions has announced that it is working with JISC Collections to save librarians time and increase access to the licences negotiated by JISC Collections for NESLi2, databases and archives. Under the deal, licences will be added to Serial Solutions' ERM, 360 Resource Manager.

Elsevier and Capes / MEC announce winners of SciVal Award Brazil 2012

STM publisher Elsevier in partnership with the Federal Coordination of Improvement of Personnel in Higher Education (Capes / MEC), has announced the winners of the second edition of SciVal Award Brazil 2012, honouring higher education and research institutions for their contribution to the scientific development of the country. According to Scopus data, Brazil holds the 13th position globally in research output per country.

ALA and EBSCO partner to offer five scholarships to librarians attending 2013 ALA Midwinter Meeting

The American Library Association (ALA) and EBSCO are partnering to offer scholarships to five librarians who plan to attend the 2013 ALA Midwinter Meeting. Scheduled for January 24 – 28, 2013, in Seattle, the meeting gives library professionals an opportunity to participate in continuing education programmes, attend informative meetings, and interact with colleagues.

The University Libraries at Virginia Tech has joined the HathiTrust, a partnership of major academic and research libraries that are collaborating to build a digital library initiative that preserves and provides access to the published record in digital form. As HathiTrust members, Virginia Tech students, faculty, and staff will have access to more than 3 million public domain books.

Academic publisher Maney Publishing has announced its support for the Open Access Week with special prices for OA publication. Throughout Open Access Week, the publisher is highlighting its hybrid open access model, MORE OpenChoice, and reducing author fees in order to encourage open access publication. Open Access Week is a global event running from October 22-28 organised by the Scholarly Publishing and Academic Resources Coalition (SPARC).
