Elsevier and Netelabs in deal to co-develop new tools for research evaluation

Information analytics business Elsevier, and Netelabs, a research unit within Net ESolutions Corporation (NETE), have signed an agreement to partner in co-developing new tools for research evaluation. Through the collaboration, data, digital design and product development from both organisations will be combined into larger and improved information systems supporting researchers, institutions, funders and policymakers.

Web of Science Group launches new publisher analytics reports

The Web of Science Group, part of Clarivate Analytics, has launched its first range of analytical reports aimed specifically for academic publishers. The ready-to-use reports provide a snapshot of journals' performance and inform competitor analysis. They will help publishers to easily plan robust, evidence-based strategies, based on the publisher-independent, editorially curated data in the Web of Science, combined with data from InCites analytics and where appropriate, ScholarOne.

John Wiley and Sons and Gen Infiniti Academy sign MoU to help learners in Singapore prepare for workforce relevance and employability

John Wiley and Sons, Inc., a global leader in research and education, and Gen Infiniti Academy (GIA), a training provider for quality technical education in Singapore, have signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU) to expand their existing partnership which provides internationally recognised course curriculum and certifications that enable the local community in Singapore to upskill their digital capabilities and prepare for future workforce. This strategic collaboration offers WileyNXT's courses and certifications to support the Singapore government's wider efforts to accelerate digital transformation and bridge the digital skills gap in the job market.

Dutch universities organise second edition of Digital Society Conference

After last year's success, the fourteen Dutch universities, united in the Association of Universities in the Netherlands, have announced the return of the Digital Society Conference. Stakeholders across all scientific disciplines urged to make data open and accessible

Institutions, science funders, data repositories, publishers, researchers and scientific societies from all scientific disciplines must work together to ensure all scientific data are easy to find, access and use, according to a new commentary in Nature by members of the Enabling FAIR Data Steering Committee. In the new commentary, the Enabling FAIR Data Steering Committee is calling on the entire scientific community across all scientific disciplines to sign onto this commitment statement. The group also lays out a set of changes necessary to shift research culture more broadly.

cOAlition S appoints Jisc expert, Neil Jacobs, as interim programme manager

Neil Jacobs, head of open science and research lifecycle at Jisc, has been appointed as interim programme manager for the international consortium of research funders, cOAlition S. Neil Jacobs will take forward the work of the consortium, Plan S, to help accelerate the transition to full and immediate open access (OA). Plan S requires that scientific publications that result from research funded by public grants must be published in compliant open access journals or platforms.
