IEEE announces 14 new open access journals

IEEE, the world's largest technical professional organisation, is launching 14 new gold fully open access journals spanning a wide range of technologies including telecommunications, computing, biomedical engineering, automotive technology, signal processing, industry applications, power and energy and more. The new journals will begin accepting submissions in the fall of 2019 and publish their first articles in early 2020.

Hindawi updates Editorial structure to further support Open Science and the academic research community

Open access publisher Hindawi has announced updates to its journals' Editorial models to more fully serve their communities and the researchers that publish within them in the era of Open Access, Open Data, Open Infrastructure and Open Science. The open access publisher will be appointing Chief Editors on some titles during 2019 to champion both their journal and Open Science practices, such as data sharing, within the wider academic community.

Ten members of the Dutch library consortium renew agreement with Karger Publishers

Ten members of the Dutch library consortium 'samenwerkingsverband van Nederlandse universiteitsbibliotheken en de Koninklijke Bibliotheek' (UKB) have renewed an agreement with Karger Publishers which includes the publication of Open Access (OA) articles for authors at these universities. This transformative agreement is an important step in support of a transition to more OA research both in the Netherlands and globally.

Faculty and students at the Finland-based University of Turku now have access to 75 online multidisciplinary resources from ProQuest. It is the first university in the Scandinavian region to adopt this expansive selection of primary sources – the same sources that are staples in the world's most prominent academic libraries.

IOP Publishing launches new open-access journal - Journal of Physics: Complexity

IOP Publishing is launching JPhys Complexity, a new multidisciplinary, open access journal focusing on the science of complex systems and networks. Representing a further addition to IOP's Journal of Physics series, JPhys Complexity will publish significant research where concepts and methods of physics and related fields are applied to advancing understanding of complex systems and problems.

American Association of Colleges of Pharmacy moves journal hosting to HighWire

Scholarly publishing tech provider HighWire has announced that the American Association of Colleges of Pharmacy (AACP) has selected HighWire as its new publishing platform and hosting provider.
