The future of scholarly books is open (access), reveals a Springer Nature survey

A global Springer Nature survey of more than 2,500 academic book authors provides in-depth insights into perceptions of open access (OA). The majority of book authors support the idea that all future scholarly books should be open access (OA). This is one of the key findings of a new white paper presented by Springer Nature at the OAI-11 conference at CERN this week. Based on the responses of the book authors who were surveyed by Springer Nature in February and March 2019, the white paper provides a global view of book authors' attitudes towards OA.

Elsevier unveils the International Center for the Study of Research

Elsevier, the information analytics business specialising in science and health, has launched a groundbreaking new Center tasked with examining and advancing the evaluation of research across all fields of knowledge production. The International Center for the Study of Research (ICSR) will work closely with the research community to review and develop the use of qualitative and quantitative metrics of research evaluation to create a more transparent and robust approach to research assessment.

University of Verona selects Ex Libris' Alma Library Services Platform and Primo Discovery Solution

Ex Libris®, a ProQuest company, has announced that the University of Verona has selected the Ex Libris Alma® library services platform and Ex Libris Primo® discovery and delivery solution. The university will be migrating from the Ex Libris Aleph® integrated library system (ILS). Alma and Primo will provide the university with a unified platform that will make it easier for users to search the library's resources and for staff members to follow up on personalised resource recommendations.

Bureau de cooperation interuniversitaire to move Quebec university libraries to WorldShare

The Bureau de coopération interuniversitaire (BCI), a coalition of Québec universities, has selected OCLC's WorldShare Management Services as the library services platform for 17 of its members. WorldShare Management Services (WMS) is a cloud-based library services platform with WorldCat as its foundation that allows library staff to draw on the collaborative data and work of libraries worldwide for more efficient workflows. The selection of WMS followed a rigorous evaluation process that spanned more than a year.

Bulgarian Pharmaceutical Scientific Society's journal, Pharmacia, moves to Pensoft's ARPHA platform

Pharmacia, the open-access, peer-reviewed journal of the Bulgarian Pharmaceutical Scientific Society, has moved to the fast-expanding portfolio of scholarly publisher and technology provider Pensoft. The journal's 2019 inaugural issue and the first since the realisation of the new partnership is already live on the journal's new website.
