ConTech 2018 awards three student places

Three student bursary places have been awarded to attend the inaugural ConTech which opens in just a weeks' time. Two places were originally on offer but due to the high level and quality of the applicants the decision was made to expand the offer to three places. ConTech 2018 takes place at Chelsea Harbour Hotel, London from November 29 – 30, 2018.

Springer partners with Labster to bring students in Germany cutting-edge science education materials

Springer, a global scientific, technical and medical portfolio, has announced a partnership with Labster, connecting traditional textbook material with computer-animated simulations. This collaboration will help to shape the future of science education by changing the way students learn science. The enhanced textbook material is available via Springer's content platform SpringerLink or through purchasing a specific textbook.

The Evaluating RDM Tool – a new tool for evaluating your RDM offering

Institutions now have a new means at their disposal to aid them in assessing their research data management initiatives, the Evaluating RDM Tool. A collaborative creation, the tool was developed using the SPARC Europe How Open is Your Research service and the Digital Curation Centre's RISE Framework.

Thieme Group opens new office in Beijing

The Thieme Group, a supplier of information and services contributing to the improvement of healthcare and health, recently opened a new Beijing office to strengthen its presence in the Asian market. The purpose of the office is to build relations with key research institutes and societies, and to support Chinese researchers in their efforts to publish in Thieme's renowned journals.

Anke Beck appointed to German Council for Information Infrastructure as new member

IntechOpen's CEO Anke Beck has been appointed to the German Council for Information Infrastructure (RFii) as a new Council member. By order of the Council of Science and Humanities (Gemeinsamer Wissenschaftsrats) the group of experts is tasked to advise Politics and Academia how to establish and develop the information infrastructures for academia and to formulate German positions in this area.
