Digital delivery breathes new life into professional books and scholarly monographs, says new Simba report

Media and publishing intelligence firm Simba Information has released a report titled 'Scholarly & Professional E-Book Publishing 2018-2022.' The report examines the scholarly and professional market including e-books in law, business, scientific and technical, medical, and social science and humanities. It found that, although the book market as a whole has taken its lumps due to declining print sales, e-books have greater appeal with library customers, which has led publishers to reinvest in their collections.

St. Stephen's Clinical Research adopts Elsevier's MACRO to support complex clinical research

Elsevier, the information analytics business specialising in science and health, has announced the successful implementation of its MACRO solution by St. Stephen's Clinical Research (STSTCR) in the UK. STSTCR adopted MACRO to support the management and delivery of complex clinical research, specifically in the field of infectious diseases including HIV and hepatitis, which they conduct across multiple centers across the UK, Europe and worldwide.

GALILEO in deal with EBSCO Information Services and OpenAthens to provide users with federated single sign-on access

The GALILEO (GeorgiA LIbrary LEarning Online) consortium is making the research experience easier for their library users by implementing federated single sign-on access, enabling end users to sign-on once into any resource from the site or within Discovery. GALILEO has entered into a five-year agreement with EBSCO Information Services (EBSCO) and OpenAthens providing single sign-on software that allows the end user to move from resource to resource without re-entering their credentials.

Cambridge University Press expands Author Hub into a new, integrated online platform for book authors

Academic publisher Cambridge University Press (the Press) has announced the expansion of Author Hub into a new, integrated online platform for book authors. Since its launch in 2013, Author Hub has expanded to offer services for current and prospective authors spanning all three of the Press's publishing groups - Academic, ELT and Education – to support them throughout the publishing process and offer an enhanced experience.

Frontiers in Psychiatry has announced the appointment of Professor Sören Krach from Lübeck University, Germany, as Specialty Chief Editor of the new Social Cognition section. Professor Sören Krach heads the Social Neuroscience in Psychiatry group at Lübeck University's Social Neuroscience Lab. National Academy of Medicine launches online resource hubs on clinician burnout and well-being

The National Academy of Medicine (NAM) has launched the Clinician Well-Being Knowledge Hub, a comprehensive online repository for health system leaders, clinicians, and trainees that contains resources highlighting promising approaches for combating clinician burnout, such as research and news articles, toolkits, peer-reviewed literature, and reports. This knowledge hub provides a comprehensive overview of the causes of clinician burnout; its consequences for healthcare professionals, patients, and their families; and innovative approaches that organizations can take to promote well-being.

Jisc and HESA analytics project in the running for national technology award

A business analytics service developed by Jisc and the Higher Education Statistics Agency (HESA) for use in higher education has been shortlisted for the 2018 National Technology Awards. The analytics labs and community dashboards project is one of five services shortlisted for Analytics Project of the Year. The winner will be announced on May 17 at a ceremony in central London.
